Designs for Health Magnesium Threonate is a 100% pure, easy to dissolve, excipient-free, virtually tasteless powder. It is a unique and highly bioavailable form of magnesium. The compound consists of magnesium and the L-isomer of threonic acid L- Threonate, a metabolite of ascorbic acid.
 
Magnesium is the second most abundant cation of the intracellular fluids of the body and is involved in over 300 biochemical activities, including enzymatic processes, macromolecule-organelle binding (mRNA binding to ribosomes) and organelle functioning (mitochondria and ATP production). Due to its critical involvement in the functioning of the sodium/potassium ATPase pump and calcium pumps, magnesium is also vital for optimal neuromuscular communication and muscle contractility and relaxation. It is therefore vital for the adequate functioning of almost every biological system.

Directions:

Doses used in research range from1.5 g - 2 g daily (25 mg/kg/day) (providing 108–144 mg elemental magnesium).

Contraindications:
Renal failure
Heart block
Levodopa (do not take this combination)

Cautions:

Caution advised with use of magnesium in individuals with renal dysfunction.
Excessive intake of magnesium may cause diarrhoea and gastric irritation.
Excessive intake of magnesium may result in reduced calcium levels.
Magnesium may potentiate the therapeutic effect of calcium-channel blockers and neuroblocker medications.
Long term use of loop and thiazide diuretics increase urinary magnesium excretion.
Magnesium may decrease absorption of fluoroquinolones. Separate doses by at least 2 hours before and 4 hours after oral magnesium.

If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional. Dietary supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

Placing an order Step by Step
